Thank you to all the teachers, students, carers, helpers and volunteers who participated and worked together in such a spirit of openness and discovery to make the Merri Merri project a success this year!

The Merri Merri project connected children with their local environment through art, Indigenous knowledge, history and science and was only possible with the support of the entire community. Many people contributed to its success, but in particular we'd like to acknowledge the work of program coordinator Sarita and the project team, Wurundjeri elders Uncle Bill and Uncle Dave and the Wurundjeri Tribe Land Council, Angela and the team at Merri Creek Management Committee, Briony & Gregory at Scale Free Network, Slow Art Collective, East Coburg Community House...and you!

Naya the moth of the Rain Book launch 

Thanks to all who came along to our kids' Book Launch at Coburg Library this week. The captivating performance depicting the short but eventful life of a moth on Merri Merri was a huge hit with those in attendance - and we sold 38 books!

Here's what some of our kids had to say:

"This is a beautiful story about the transformation of a grub into a rain moth" - Yuna, Grade 1.
"This is a very nice and informative book about transformation. It's weird how the grub turned into a moth!" - Marlo, Grade 2
"An incredible story of transformation, life and death" - Samuel, Grade 4.
"I can't believe all of this is happening so close to my house" - Nawel, Grade 1

If you missed the launch you can still pick up a copy at Pictures and Pages bookshop in Coburg or from the school office.

Weaving
